ACC Nabs 5 RTSA Officers for Corruption

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested five officers from the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) over allegations of engaging in corrupt practices.

ACC Director General Daphne Chabu revealed during a press briefing that the arrests followed thorough investigations into reports of soliciting and accepting bribes from motorists.

The accused officers are alleged to have:

Overlooked traffic offences

Issued driver test certificates without physical inspections

Granted licenses and other favours unlawfully

Ms. Chabu condemned the conduct, saying such actions demonstrate a blatant disregard for public safety and the rule of law.

Meanwhile, RTSA CEO Amon Mweemba confirmed that the agency is conducting its own internal investigations and stressed that any officers found guilty will be dismissed in line with public service regulations.

The ACC continues to call on the public to report corrupt acts, assuring that no one is above the law.
