Lusaka, 5th June 2025 — First Lady Mutinta Hichilema has expressed deep sadness over the passing of Zambia’s Sixth Republican President, His Excellency Edgar Chagwa Lungu.


In her message of condolence, Mrs. Hichilema extended heartfelt sympathies to Mrs. Esther Lungu, the Sixth First Lady, as well as to the children and the entire Lungu family during this time of profound sorrow.


“My heart goes out to Madam Esther Lungu, the children, and the entire family. As a nation, we join them in mourning and stand in solidarity with them during this difficult time,” said the First Lady.


This message was shared in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) by the Office of the First Lady.
