 “WHY ME” DIES IN POLICE CUSTODY?


The nation is in shock tonight



as alarming reports suggest that controversial blogger Francis Kapwepwe, popularly known as “Why Me”, has died while in police custody.


Sources close to the case allege that Why Me was abducted from Harare, Zimbabwe by Zambian security operatives and smuggled into Lusaka, where he was reportedly held and tortured at a so-called “safe house” for several days. It is believed he may have succumbed to his injuries earlier today.


This chilling turn of events is sending shockwaves across the country and beyond, especially as credible voices raise concerns of a possible cover-up by authorities. It is alleged that efforts are now underway to distance police officers from any responsibility in his apparent death.


It’s worth noting that Why Me’s controversial arrest had been widely reported on platforms seen as State House-aligned, such as Kalemba and CIC. However, new developments suggest the case may involve serious human rights violations — and possibly, international diplomatic breaches. Word is, Zimbabwean authorities have raised concern over the cross-border abduction that reportedly bypassed any legal or diplomatic channels.


Meanwhile, Zambia Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga has publicly denied knowledge of Why Me's arrest or detention. Speaking to Mafken News, Hamoonga said he was unaware of any such case, though he promised to “give a comprehensive response” once he verified the claims.


Social media is currently flooded with mixed reports, with many users demanding the police produce Why Me or confirm his status. His last known whereabouts, according to some, was Chirundu, where he allegedly went to collect a parcel from his girlfriend before being taken.
