PRESIDENT HICHILEMA: STOP LOAD-SHEDDING SALONS, BARBERSHOPS AND COMPOUNDS!
President Hakainde Hichilema has called out power producers in Zambia, urging them to step up and put an end to load-shedding, especially in low-income areas and among small-scale businesses like salons and barbershops.
Speaking during a meeting with the Energy Traders Association at State House, the President asked some tough but honest questions.
> “Why are we load-shedding the compounds? Why are hairdressers and barbershops—who use very little power—being punished? Why can’t a room like this deliver 1,000 megawatts of solar by December? What is the problem?” he challenged.
President Hichilema highlighted that the progress in Zambia’s energy sector today is due to UPND’s clear leadership and long-term vision.
He also urged energy companies to take advantage of the New Dawn government’s commitment to solving long-standing energy problems and accelerate their investments in sustainable power.
> “Let’s not delay. People need power not just for lighting, but to earn a living,” he emphasized.
As the government pushes for more solar and renewable energy, the call is now on the private sector to match the urgency—and make load-shedding a thing of the past, especially for small businesses that depend on power to survive.

This is what we call in our tongue, "Mwasensela ilyo Kawa." Where was the president since last year 2024. This good directive would have been from the beginning. In Genesis 1.1 when load shedding was "without form" we were told to buy solar. Now in Revelation 21:20 when election is coming soon, and say "Amen" to load shedding suffering, is when an amazing answer has come. "Yakosako ii yena"
