ALLOW KAMBWILI TO ACCESS URGENT MEDICAL TREATMENT, PF URGES GOVT
The Patriotic Front (PF) has raised alarm over the health condition of Hon. Chishimba Kambwili, who was transported last night from Milima Correctional Facility in Kasama to Lusaka under unclear circumstances.
PF had hoped the former Cabinet Minister and Member of the Central Committee was being evacuated for specialised medical care at either Maina Soko Military Hospital or University Teaching Hospital (UTH) due to his serious illness.
But to the shock of his family and supporters, it was revealed that Kambwili had instead been brought to the Lusaka Magistrates' Court to face charges of unlawful assembly, stemming from a gathering held at his residence where youths protested the high cost of living.
Hon. Kambwili is currently serving a five-month jail sentence after losing an appeal on a 2021 conviction for allegedly expressing tribal hatred during a radio broadcast. His conviction was upheld by the Kasama High Court on July 14, 2025, and he began serving his sentence immediately thereafter.
🚨 According to fresh reports, despite his worsening health condition, Hon. Kambwili was returned to correctional custody without receiving the urgent medical attention he needs.

🔊 PF is now appealing to the government, specifically:
Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Hon. Jack Mwiimbu, and
Zambia Correctional Service Commissioner General, Mr. Frederick S.S. Chilukutu
…to urgently intervene and allow Hon. Kambwili access to proper medical care.
> 🗣️ “This is a matter of life and death. The government must act humanely,” said Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba, PF Chairperson for Information and Media.
🛑 Health should never be politicized. Every inmate has a right to medical treatment.
