Community finds body of CBU student cut in pieces

A FINAL-YEAR medical student at the Copperbelt University (CBU), Fred Kapuku, has been found dismembered in the Chiminwa area of Zamtan.

His headless body, with both legs severed, was found on Monday, stuffed inside a black trunk along Jonken Road.

Area councilor Luckson Filongwe reported the discovery to the police after residents woke to the grim scene.

According to community members, a vehicle was heard in the early morning hours, around 4:30 hours and a loud noise suggested a heavy object, believed to be the trunk, was being dropped.

Copperbelt Police Chief Pathius Siadenge confirmed that the body was found naked inside the closed trunk.

He noted that the cuts appeared fresh and there were visible burns on the victim’s chest, suggesting the killing took place elsewhere.

“The place looks like a second scene of crime,” Siadenge said.

While police were at the scene, they received a report from Hillcrest Police in Ndola about the discovery of two human legs and a head near Hillcrest Clinic.

Authorities suspect these body parts belong to Kapuku, linking the two separate crime scenes.

The body has been transported to Kitwe Central Teaching Hospital Mortuary as police continue their investigation.
