 Dad was inserting his manhood in my private part until I developed sores , Court hears


THE Lusaka Magistrates' Court has heard how a 47 -year-old traditional healer used to insert his manhood into his 10 year old biological daughter's private parts until he infected her with HIV.

The court also heard that the child developed sores on her private parts and that her mother could wash her private parts with charms in a dish.


According to a Psychosocial counsellor, Anastasia Kasonde from University Teaching Hospital (UTH) paediatric centre, the girl tested positive to HIV when she went for a test with her mother.


Kasonde told the court that on March 27, 2025 between 08:00 to 09:00, the girl's mother visited UTH with intensions to have the child tested for HIV.


"I started counseling the mother as to why she wanted to have the child tested."


"She told me she had taken the child to Chawama Level One Hospital at some point to be tested for HIV and results came out positive and she wasn't convinced with the tests results there because the child tested HIV negative at birth and was negative at one year and two years old," she said.


Kasonde testified that she asked the mother about her HIV status and she was told that she was HIV positive, even the time when she was pregnant, she tested HIV positive.


She said the mother told her that when the child was born, tests were done in Eastern Province and the child was HIV negative.


"I proceeded to do the HIV test on the child and she tested positive, I repeated on confirmatory bioline which also came out positive," the witness said.


Kasonde said she communicated the results to the mother and that the results are still positive like it was in Chawama.


"I counseled the mother, telling her the child had to start treatment, and the mother accepted that she wanted to be helped because the child had been looking so weak."


She said the child looked abit weak and sleepy.


"Thats how we later started opening the file for ART for the child, aged 10. As I opened the file, the mother stepped out to answer a phone call.I remained with the child and asked if there was anyone who touched her body."


"The child said it's only the daddy who puts his private part on hers," she said.


Kasonde said she asked the mother if anyone could have had sexual relations with the child.


"The mother refused and we continued to open the file and get details of the child and parents."


"The mother stepped out again and I asked the child if she had any sores the time the dad put his private part on hers. She responded that the mother was washing her private part with some charms in the dish," she said.


The witness said she called the sister incharge and handed over the child to her.


This is in a case where it is alleged that between January and March 2025, SP had unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl who is known to be his biological daughter.


SP however, denied the charge.


Further allegations in the matter states that after SP was arrested for defilement, three women married to him had made an attempt to bribe police officers so they could release their alleged defiler husband but they were arrested.
