Hichilema Directs Councils to Fix Feeder Roads for Farmers

President Hakainde Hichilema has ordered all councils in the country to ensure feeder roads are in good condition and passable year-round to support agriculture. The directive, aimed at boosting crop productivity and market access for farmers, was delivered during the Katanino traditional ceremony in Masaiti, Copperbelt Province.

Government's Commitment to Agriculture

In a speech read on his behalf by Minister of Labour and Social Security, Brenda Tambatamba, President Hichilema emphasized that a strong road network is vital for the effective transportation of farm produce. He called on local authorities to work tirelessly to maintain these critical routes.

The government is also providing tangible support to farmers in the region. To help small-scale farmers increase productivity, the administration has procured and stationed four tractors with attachments at the Masaiti Farm Institute. This initiative is expected to help farmers surpass their previous season's output.
