It's a lie, Kambwili is not hospitalised - Lawyer
CHISHIMBA Kambwili's Lawyer, Kennedy Mambwe has refuted claims circulating on social media that his client is hospitalised at Maina Soko Military Hospital.
Mambwe said Kambwili was evacuated from Milima Correctional facility in Kasama to Lusaka because of a case he has at the Lusaka Magistrates' Court.
"Social media reports are not correct, my client is in Lusaka yes, but not at Maina Soko Military Hospital, he is here because of the matter in has at the Lusaka Magistrates' Court."
"At the last sitting, the court had ordered that the State should facilitate for his transportation to be brought and appear in court, that is the reason why he has been moved not that he is critically ill," Mambwe said.
Mambwe said Kambwili will be at Lusaka Central Correctional facility (Chimbokaila) until his matter is disposed of.
"Kambwili was supposed to be brought on Monday, August 4, 2025 but there seemed to be miscommunication with the prison authorities, we expected that he was going to be brought on Monday for his appearance on Tuesday, but he did not appear and the court adjourned the matter to August 18," he said.
Mambwe emphasised that Kambwili is not hospitalised and not on oxygen, stating, the politician came to Lusaka as a result of the matter before resident magistrate Kawama Mwamfuli.
In this case, Kambwili is charged with one count of unlawful assembly.
He was jointly charged with a Lusaka businessman, Charles Kakula, however, Kakula was discharged after the State made an application to the court.
The two accused persons pleaded not guilty to one count of unlawful assembly Contrary to Section 74 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 and one count of expressing or showing hatred, ridicule or contempt for persons because of race Contrary to Section 70(1) of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
