Law Enforcement Vows Relentless Pursuit of Fugitives, Including Emmanuel Jay Banda

LUSAKA – The Zambian government has reiterated its unwavering commitment to apprehending fugitives, with Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister Jack Mwiimbu issuing a stern warning to former Petauke Independent Member of Parliament, Emmanuel Jay Banda, to surrender to law enforcement. Minister Mwiimbu stressed that authorities will relentlessly pursue Banda until he is brought to justice.

In an interview with Phoenix News, Minister Mwiimbu cited the recent arrest and detention of Francis Kapwepwe, widely known as "Why Me," as a clear demonstration of law enforcement agencies' resolve. He emphasized that this action serves as a strong message regarding their dedication to tracking down and prosecuting all suspects.

Mr. Mwiimbu underscored that individuals who have committed crimes, including Mr. Banda, may temporarily evade capture, but their apprehension is inevitable, regardless of the time elapsed.

In a related development, Minister Mwiimbu confirmed that the high-profile case involving former Barclays Bank employee Pamela Gondwe remains active. Ms. Gondwe is accused of stealing $400,000 in cash from the bank in 2019. He affirmed that Zambian law enforcement agencies are collaborating closely with Interpol in their ongoing efforts to locate and extradite Ms. Gondwe to Zambia to face charges.
