Yalelo is seeking a strategic, hands-on, and operations-focused leader to manage our Kitwe Distribution Center. As a key player in Zambia’s leading aquaculture business, this role is central to ensuring that all functions at the DC. This role will provide for on-site leadership, operational oversight, and strategic direction and to ensure operation are in sync to deliver exceptional performance and support our growth in Northern Region.

The Right-Fit Candidate Will

  • Lead and coordinate all operational functions at the Kitwe DC.
  • Ensure cross-functional alignment and smooth day-to-day operations in a high-volume FMCG environment.
  • Drive performance management, setting clear goals and KPIs for each function focus on warehouse and distribution.
  • Act as the primary supervisor on-site, enabling quick responses to operational challenges.
  • Monitor and improve compliance, safety, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Lusaka HQ and other senior leaders to align on strategic goals.
  • Build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and reporting for the DC.
  • Oversee inventory control, ensuring optimal stock levels and minimizing waste.
  • Implement and monitor SOPs across all departments to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Lead risk management initiatives, identifying and mitigating operational risks.
  • Ensure customer service excellence by aligning operations with service delivery expectations.
  • Support technology adoption and digital tools to improve operational visibility and decision-making.
  • Prepare and present operational reports to senior leadership, highlighting performance, challenges, and opportunities.

Qualifications

  • A Degree in Business Management or a relevant field.
  • 5+ years of experience in operations, logistics, or facility management.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and leading operational strategy.
  • Willingness to be based in Kitwe and work closely with Lusaka HQ.

Must have skills

  • Strong leadership experience in multi-functional operations or supply chain management, preferably within the FMCG sector.
  • Proven ability to manage complex teams and systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and business acumen.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
